Pollutant control company wins contract with biofuels producer

A company that specialises in the design and supply of industrial air pollution technologies has announced that it has received a $4.3m (£2.125 million) contract from am American biofuels producer.

TurboSonic Technologies has agreed the contract with Wet Electrostatic Precipitator (WESP) and is expected to deliver the pollution control equipment to them by June 2009.

Describing the growth of the market, Edward Spink, TurboSonic's chief executive, said: "Growth of the biofuels market is expected to continue as the demand for "carbon-neutral" alternatives to non-renewable fuels increases. TurboSonic continues to actively pursue opportunities related to production of alternative fuels as cellulosic ethanol, pelletizing, biodiesel and other biofuels processes are developed."

Mr Spink explained that the company had so far supplied TurboSonic Technologies with 35 systems to control pollution and that WESP was contributing to the environment by "greening" the production process of alternative fuels.

TurboSonic Technologies has so far helped companies in a variety of alternative industries including ethanol, power generation and petrochemicals.
