o2 Energy Saver Fund

Round 2 is now open.  Dowload the factsheet and application form now.

About the Initiative

The O2 Energy Saver Fund is a joint initiative between O2 and the Energy Saving Trust. It has been designed to help local communities of between 10-25 households to install energy saving measures in their home that will help in the fight against climate change.

Successful applicants will be visited by an energy hit squad that will assess their individual needs and then install measures such as loft insulation as a result.

The O2 Energy Saver Fund is made up from contributions from O2 and their customers who can donate to the Fund in a number of ways:

  • By recycling their old phones
  • By moving to paperless billing
  • By upgrading their services but keeping their existing handset

What does the O2 Energy Saver Fund provide?

The fund provides a free energy makeover to successful applicants. The makeover focuses on the installation of measures that have been proved to be the best way to decrease energy use in the home, reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and to help save households up to £250 on their annual energy bills:

  • Priority insulation measures:
  • Loft insulation (including top up)
  • Draught proofing
  • Cavity wall insulation
  • Hot water tank insulation and insulation of primary pipework
  • Low energy light bulbs
  • Energy advice

Why are O2 and the Energy Saving Trust doing this?

O2 are a founding partner of 'We're in this Together' - a national government backed campaign which works with some of Britain's best known brands to promote easy, affordable things you can do to help tackle climate change. O2 know that climate change is one of the most serious challenges facing society, and that every company has an important role to play in tackling it. Their goal is to make energy conservation a way of life and to minimise human impact on the environment.

The money raised through the O2 Energy Saver options will be used to help O2 and the Energy Saving Trust create the O2 Energy Saver fund that will help to turn communities green by ensuring they use less energy and have a reduced contribution to climate change.  The donations to the O2 Energy Saver fund will be used to help local communities reduce carbon emissions. The fund will pay for hit squads to deliver energy efficiency improvements to households.

The fund is administered by the Energy Saving Trust, one of the UK's leading organisations set up to address the damaging effects of climate change. The Energy Saving Trust's aim is to cut emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) by promoting the sustainable and efficient use of energy. They offer impartial information and advice and have a network of advice centres in the UK specifically designed to help people take action.
